We hate to break it to you, but that cosy blanket you’ve been snuggling up against all winter is probably filled with things like pet fur, food crumbs, spilled drinks, dust, and even bodily oils. That being said, winter is over and it’s time to pack all your winter essentials away. It’s important that you get your blankets freshly cleaned so you can store it away for the next winter season. Caring for your blankets can be a daunting experience if you don’t know how to do it right, which is why we’ve compiled a list of do’s and don’ts when it comes to caring for your Sesli blanket to make your life all the easier!
Material Matters
First off, the material from which your Sesli blanket is made of matters. When it comes to acrylic blankets, which comprises of 90% acrylic and 10% polycotton, it’s important to gently wash it at a temperature of 30 degrees. If you wish to throw it into the tumble dryer, make sure that it’s also at a low temperature. However, you shouldn’t iron these blankets. If washing your acrylic blanket just isn’t for you, dry cleaning it will do your blanket just as much justice.
Caring for your polyester blanket, which is made of 100% polyester, slightly differs from how you care for your acrylic blanket. You should still gently wash it at 30 degrees and refrain from ironing it, but you should not bleach it, tumble dry it, or dry clean it. Bleaching it will affect the blanket’s dye while tumble drying and dry cleaning it will damage the fibres by causing it them to melt or shrink. Besides, polyester fabric is naturally stain-resistant, so cold water and the right amount of detergent should keep your blanket clean. On this note, remember to use only a small amount of detergent, as excess detergent can stick to the fleece fibres and make the blanket feel less soft.
Post-Wash
We get that sometimes following instructions on the washing instructions labels just isn’t enough to get that desired result for your blankets. So, we’re making things easier for you by giving you some additional tips and tricks to keep your blankets as cosy as possible while maintaining the quality.
You know those tough stains that just won’t budge? We’ve got you covered! Just set a little drop of dishwashing liquid on the stain for about 10 minutes and then blot it away with a paper towel or cloth. Afterwards, wash your blanket as usual. If you choose to wash your blanket in the washing machine, ensure that it fits in the washing machine otherwise it won’t get washed properly.
Furthermore, if you’ve opted to wash your blanket yourself, hang it on the line to dry or toss it in your tumble dryer at a low heat cycle if it’s an acrylic blanket. And once dry, give it a shake to remove any excess fluff.
It’s best to store your Sesli blanket in a plastic storage bag as it prevents the moisture from escaping and from gathering dust while also allowing the blanket to breathe.
Washing your Sesli blanket can be a breeze if done right. Essentially it all boils down to this: always check the labels on your blankets before washing or drying, and wash them regularly to enjoy that feeling of cosiness and clean, freshly laundered scent.
